This was the first time we ran The Total without a rest day falling before it.  This was done by design as we never know when we will have to lift heavy stuff.   We may even have to do it repeatedly over the course of a couple hours say like some weekend yard work that has to get done before your guests arrive.  If this yard work has to be done on a Saturday and Friday’s WOD was The Filthy Fifty the work still needs to get done.  Some of the newer people who were held back a little on the last Total saw an increase or at least broke even where some of our veteran CF’ers were a little disappointed with their numbers.  If strength gains were infinite then we would all be pressing buses and deadlifting the world, they however are not.

If you did not set a new PR or struggled more than expected please don’t be disappointed.  We will see the Total again and you will be better prepared and rested, I promise.

  1. I know we can’t PR every time we do the total but it feels darn good when you do! So when I didn’t PR on the Press for the total, I loaded the bar up again after and did 10lbs more for another PR! Just need to find the groove of where to start with weight and how much warm up. I am thinking I need lots of warm up after that….

  2. 900, you are right around the corner….Then it’s on to a cool 1,000 with a whole lot of bending bars….

400 deadlift should be a lock, it’s the press and adding more than 10-20lbs on the squat that is gonna be hard..

  3. Tom I don’t know if you forgot but I can totally deadlift the world. You were there that one time, remember?

  4. Aahh yes, I remember it well. It was a day like any other day, until…

  5. When Steve deadlifts, he’s not picking the weight up, he’s just pushing the planet down….

  6. “This one time, at band camp…”

  7. OMG - I can “smell” the testosterone from here!! :)

  8. Yes Joan, and it smells like Victory!
